The Leicestershire & Rutland Masonic Charity Association, based at Freemasons’ Hall in Leicester, has delivered £35,728 worth of grants to twenty four charities and good causes based in the county.
The grants are awarded to help those who need it most, either in the running of small charities, or to provide essential equipment to some of the county’s volunteer groups.
Local charity Arthritis Support Leicestershire are based in the city, provide tailored help to people with mobility issues, and assist sufferers with guidance on exercise, nutrition, pain management, and mindfulness. The charity received a donation of £1,500 from local Freemasons.
Hope Against Cancer, Leicestershire and Rutland’s local cancer research charity who fund cutting-edge research in the local area received a donation of £7,000 which was sponsored by the Howe & Charnwood Lodge in Loughborough and the Gartree Lodge in Leicester.
Dementia Harborough who provides support for those newly diagnosed with dementia, and their families, to offer a place where they can have fun together and jointly support each other received a donation of over £1,000. This donation came from the St. Peter’s Lodge, who meet at the Masonic Hall in Market Harborough.
The Charnwood Christmas Toys Appeal based in Melton Mowbray received a donation of £1,370 which was sponsored by the Framland Hundred Lodge in Melton Mowbray and the Beacon Lodge in Loughborough.
The Uppingham In Rutland Lodge helped the Leicester University Hospitals for Research into Rheumatoid Arthritis in Children with a donation of £1,500.
Help the Homeless received a donation of £2,000 to help with their tremendous work in aiding rough sleepers in the community.
The Leslie Edwards Trust, a small charity designed to help people with hearing difficulties based in Loughborough were happy to receive a donation of £1,000 from the Humberstone Lodge in Syston.
Another charity supporting the homeless is One Roof Leicester, whose donation of £1,052 from the Prince Rupert Lodge in Leicester will go towards offering accommodation and support to those who need it.
The Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes received a donation of £1,500 with donations from the Lodge of Science & Art in Loughborough and the Sparkenhoe Lodge from Hinckley.
The Chairman of the Leicestershire & Rutland Masonic Charity Association Phil Caswell said, “We are very grateful to all of the charities and good causes for the services they give to the local community, and I both delighted and proud that Freemasons have been able to help with a contribution to their efforts.”
