LOROS Tree of Life

Updated: Nov 10

LOROS has commissioned an artist to design a bespoke Tree of Life sculpture, creating a beautiful one-of-a-kind installation in the Hospice gardens.

The LOROS Tree of Life is a unique way to support a very special new LOROS service. By purchasing a leaf on this beautiful hand-sculptured tree, you will be supporting a service which can help fulfil a final wish.

Freemasons of Leicestershire & Rutland and the LRFC (Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons' Charity) have a very long history of supporting LOROS and this autumn we were invited to visit them to discuss their new pilot Overnight Response Service. LOROS says that many of their patients choose to spend their last days of life in the comfort of their own homes. Currently, for patients who make this choice, nursing support is available during the day to bring much-needed comfort and reassurance as well as medication and advice. But at night, there is little funding for this vital service in patients’ homes. LOROS needs your help.

The LOROS Tree of Life will help run the Overnight Response Service, for one year, between the hours of 10pm and 8am, to help care for people in their darkest hours. A specialist nurse, trained in end-of-life care, will be available to patients and their families for advice and support when they are needed most. For the 3,200 families each year who experience the death of a loved one at home, it means reassurance that help will come no matter the time, day or night.

How will your leaf purchase help LOROS • £81 can cover the cost of the new Overnight Response Service for one hour • £217 can cover the cost of a nurse working a night shift between the hours of 10pm and 8am • £1,400 can pay for a syringe driver to administer vital pain-relieving drugs in someone's final hours • £3,870 can cover the cost of an Overnight Response Service nursing team for one week Why not arrange a raffle and purchase a leaf?
