Market Harborough Freemasons donate to local food banks

The Jubilee Food Bank has received a generous donation from the local Freemasons of St. Wilfrid’s Lodge in Market Harborough.

Based in Market Harborough, the Jubilee Food Bank provides essential supplies to those in need and have seen a large increase in demand due to the current Covid-19 the world faces.

The Jubilee Food Bank have been helping people in and around the local area since 2012, starting with a few food parcels each month and now receiving up to one hundred referrals from individuals and families every month.

Adam Shepherd of the Freemasons has been raising money together with the members of St. Wilfrid’s Lodge through raffles held during the year. The Market Harborough Jubilee Food Bank was chosen to receive the £1,000 proceeds due to the fantastic work that they do to support the local community.

Adam Shepherd commented, “It was fantastic that we were able to donate £1,000 to this local charity during a time when their resources are being called upon more than ever, we hope it can go some way to help local families”.

Liz Mills, Chairperson, Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough said, "Thank you so much for thinking of the Jubilee Foodbank at this challenging time. There has been an increase in referrals due to the current lockdown, loss of jobs, and children being at home all day. The foodbank has made many changes to adapt to the current situation and appreciates all of the support we have been offered. With the support of the community, council, and donors such as yourselves, Jubilee Foodbank has been able to continue to offer food to some of the most vulnerable people in our community."
