Sparkenhoe Lodge supporting the Frontline

Freemasons of the Sparkenhoe Lodge No.8063 based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, have been helping our frontline heroes at the Leicester General Hospital.

Although the Lodge is not meeting at the moment, the members are keeping in regular contact with each other by phone calls, online meetings, and social media. During one of the conversations, Tony Earp asked for any donations of toiletries and basic sanitary items that could be passed to his wife Karen, who works in the ICU ward at the hospital.

Many visitors to the hospital are arriving without the essentials required to sustain a stay in one of the wards.

The Lodge rallied to Tony’s call for help, with a drop off location being established, and bathroom cupboards being scoured for spare essentials that could be donated.

One member of the Lodge, Paul Wareing, is also a member of the soon to be consecrated Union of Rugby Lodge No.9989, based in Leicester. On hearing the plea, he spread the word to other Freemasons. The donations soon started to flood in, keeping one of the NHS volunteers and Lodge member Karl Harris busy using his logistics skills to coordinate the effort.

Tony has also been receiving donations from local residents, and those donations keep on coming.

Both Tony and Karen have passed on their most sincere thanks to everyone who has donated so far, and if anyone else would like to contribute they can do so by contacting Paul Wareing at thatchman@hotmail.co.uk
