Virtual Toast for Wyggeston Lodge
Updated: Apr 20, 2020
At 9pm on Friday the 20th March, members of Wyggeston Lodge No.3448, one of the Universities Scheme Lodges of the Province, who would have normally been together at dinner to toast those members of the Lodge who for whatever reason were absent, decided to improvise in light of the current situation.
Thanks to WhatsApp, the members of the Lodge were able to hold a virtual toast at 9pm in solidarity with one another, as well as to all of those who were unable to attend the online gathering. Accompanied by many "selfies" of the brethren and their beverage of choice, this small act proved that “where’er dispersed around the world”, Freemasons will always support one another.

The Wyggeston Lodge is just one of many lodges throughout the Province who have decided at 9pm to raise a glass to absent brethren. Michelle Worvell, of the United Grand Lodge of England, has even proposed that brethren on twitter start a hashtag trending at 9pm saying #TimeToToast as a means of bringing Freemasons together.
