Charity is one of the fundamental principles of Freemasonry. Freemasons are one of the largest charitable givers donating millions of pounds per year to good causes.
Royal Arch Freemasons contribute to the central Masonic Charitable Foundation as well as local charities and good causes in Leicestershire & Rutland.
The generosity of the Companions throughout the Province has continued to support local charities, In the three years from 2016 to 2019, almost £37,000 has been donated to 49 local charities and good causes. The majority of the charitable donations made by Companions have been Gift Aided thus resulting in an extra 25% tax refund being added to the donation.
Donations are made from any of the 27 Royal Arch Chapters and also the Provincial Grand Chapter at presentation mornings held at Freemasons' Hall, London Road, Leicester (which are held once a year for the Royal Arch) or directly from Chapter Charity Funds.
In addition, £15,000 has been already donated over the last three years to the Masonic Charitable Foundation via the Leicestershire & Rutland 2022 Festival Appeal which is expected to raise £1.8 million for local and national good causes.
