LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND FREEMASONS

SERVICE
Service has always been a core principle of Freemasonry, and we take pride in our 300-year history of actively supporting those in need.
Our members play a crucial role at local, national, and global levels each year, dedicating both their time and resources to make a tangible difference to various organisations and communities.
Freemasonry stands out as one of the largest contributors to charitable causes in the country, with a noteworthy almost £1 million donated per week. Beyond monetary contributions, our members actively engage in volunteer work, making a significant impact in their communities.
Our members engage in many activities including community fundraising and volunteering, as well as a varied programme of events where spouses, partners and families are welcome. We’ve made substantial donations across the country to local air ambulances, blood bikes and provide a number of emergency response vehicles, including two super aerial platforms for the London Fire Brigade.
Freemasonry does a huge amount for medical research into treatments for cancer, diabetes, heart disease and a whole range of other conditions, including Alzheimer's, by funding UK medical scientists to make ground breaking discoveries.

LEICESTERSHIRE & RUTLAND FREEMASONS CHARITY
The Leicestershire and Rutland Freemasons’ Charity (LRFC) undertakes the following Charitable work:
Make grants and donations to Local Organisations, Institutions and registered Charities.
Provide relief and assistance to the aged, sick, distressed and infirm Freemasons and their families in Leicestershire and Rutland.
The LRFC is a grant making Charity and encourages applications for grants from Local Charities. We also seek nominations for grants from the Lodges and members throughout Leicestershire and Rutland.

TEDDIES FOR LOVING
CARE
A hospital visit can be frightening for a young child, especially in an emergency situation. Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) is a way of providing much-needed comfort to children attending A&E Units, helping to reduce their anxiety and improve their experience of hospitals. Every child that receives a teddy gets to take it home.
TLC is locally managed by Freemasons who also volunteer their time to run the scheme. Since its inception in 2001, 4 million teddies have been distributed to hospitals throughout England and Wales.

MASONIC HOUSING ASSOCIATION
The Masonic Housing Association (MHA) was formed in 1975 as an exempt charity to take advantage of the financial provisions made available to Housing Associations under the Housing Act of 1974.
Our objective is to build and manage housing schemes for the elderly who can generally lead an independent existence but would benefit for having community services.

LIFELITES
Creating a world of inclusion, fun and connection for children and families through the power of assistive and sensory technology.
Lifelites began as a pilot project of the RMTGB in 1999 with the idea of providing fun and educational technology packages for children in hospices. Now a charity in its own right their work has expanded to meet the growing demand from the mushrooming network of children’s hospices (currently 50 across the British Isles) serving around 9,000 children and their families.
MASONIC FISHING CHARITY (MTSFC)
“The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people with special needs”.
It achieves this by running fishing events, both coarse and fly, at various fisheries and inviting participants from special needs schools and centres and people who have suffered trauma to come and join in.
This is far more than just a days fishing though! It enables mentally disabled people to gain in confidence, meet new challenges and achieve tangible results to take away; it helps disadvantaged people and those from harsh backgrounds to renew their confidence in meeting people and interacting with adults from outside their spheres; it helps physically disabled people (including war heroes and stroke victims) to participate and experience something that may otherwise be unavailable to them and it enables our volunteers to give back to the community and have some fun along the way.
The charity is completely run by volunteers and is a non-profit making enterprise.
