A Memorable Evening at the Chapter of Fortitude No.279
Friday 2nd October 2026 – Freemasons’ Hall, Leicester
The Chapter of Fortitude No.279 welcomed a distinguished gathering on Friday 2nd October, as the Provincial Team of Officers, led by the Head of Royal Arch Masonry in Leicestershire & Rutland, Noel Manby, attended the Chapter’s meeting.
The Chapter team had undergone several last‑minute changes, but any challenges were met with calm professionalism. Paul Tomkins, who normally serves as Treasurer, stepped forward to preside over the evening. He guided the members through the business of the Chapter with confidence and good humour, supported throughout by his fellow Principals, John Norton and Paul Cramphorn, whose teamwork ensured the ceremony ran smoothly.
A highlight of the evening was the warm welcome extended to Peter Wood, who was received as a new member of the Order. The presentation was delivered with sincerity and pride, reflecting the Chapter’s commitment to fostering companionship and encouraging new members on their Royal Arch journey.
The business of the evening was conducted with precision and dignity, earning appreciative comments from both members and visitors. Once the formalities concluded, everyone retired to the dining hall at Freemasons’ Hall for a superb Festive Board. The atmosphere was lively, rounding off an excellent evening of fellowship, ceremony, and shared enjoyment.
The Chapter of Fortitude once again demonstrated its strength, adaptability, and dedication to the Royal Arch, qualities that continue to make it a valued part of our Provincial family.
