2026 Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons Raceday Raises Funds and Spirits at Leicester Racecourse

The 2026 Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons Raceday, held on Sunday 9 August, delivered another outstanding day of fundraising, fellowship, and live racing, all in support of LOROS Hospice and the Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons’ Charity.

Supporters, families, and Freemasons from across the two counties headed to Leicester Racecourse for what has quickly become one of the most anticipated charity fixtures of the summer.

Rather than a standard day trackside, guests enjoyed an exclusive, private, air‑conditioned suite overlooking the course, offering panoramic views and a full VIP experience. The suite was packed, with well over 200 attendees filling the room and creating a lively, celebratory atmosphere.

Guests enjoyed a full programme of hospitality, including excellent food, live entertainment, charity auctions, raffles, and — for the brave — a flutter on the races. The combination of racing excitement and charitable purpose made for a memorable afternoon.

Many of those attending were members of the Freemasons, joined by friends, family, and supporters of LOROS. The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Kulwinder Singh Johal, also attended the event, fresh from his recent visit to Freemasons’ Hall Leicester, where he learned more about the organisation’s charitable work.

The Lord Mayor’s presence highlighted the strong partnership between civic leadership and local Freemasonry in supporting community causes.

During the afternoon, Peter Kinder, Head of Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons, and Mark Pierpoint, who leads the local Freemasons’ Charity, were delighted to step forward and present a prize to the winner of one of the races — a moment warmly received by the crowd.

Peter Kinder said:

“What a delight it is to be back here, having a great day and supporting our wonderful charities.”

The Raceday continues to grow in scale and impact, raising vital funds for LOROS Hospice and the Freemasons’ Charity, both of which provide essential support to individuals and families across Leicestershire and Rutland.

With record attendance, enthusiastic fundraising, and strong community spirit, the 2026 event stands as one of the most successful yet, a testament to the dedication of volunteers, supporters, and the wider Freemasonry community.
