Members of the Ferrers & Ivanhoe Lodge No. 779 gathered in Ashby-de-la-Zouch on Tuesday, 11th November, to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in Freemasonry — David Coxon’s 50 years of dedicated service to the Craft.
The Master of the Lodge, Russell Scott-Worthington, offered his warmest congratulations to David, recognising not only his personal achievement but also the inspiration his long-standing commitment brings to all members of the Lodge.
Reaching half a century in Freemasonry is a remarkable accomplishment, representing decades of friendship, service, and devotion to the Craft. The atmosphere in the Lodge room was filled with admiration and respect as David reflected on his journey since joining the lodge in 1975.
During the evening, David shared a short and engaging recollection of his first evening in the lodge, and painted a picture of what the world was like fifty years ago. His reminiscences struck a chord with the members, offering both nostalgia and perspective.
The talk was warmly received, with many of the younger members expressing how inspiring it was to hear first-hand about the evolution of Freemasonry through the eyes of such a dedicated and experienced member.
The evening concluded in true Masonic spirit — with fellowship, reflection, and celebration of a life devoted to the Craft.
“This is a fantastic milestone for David as well as for the Lodge,” said the Master, summing up the collective pride felt by all present.
