Freemasons present £2,500 to the Lord Mayor for his supported Charities

The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Kulwinder Singh Johal, who took office on the 14th May 2026 and is serving for the 2026–27 civic year, visited Freemasons’ Hall Leicester this week to gain a deeper understanding of the charitable work carried out by Freemasons across the city and county. The visit also offered an opportunity to explore the historic and architecturally significant building on London Road, in the heart of Leicester.

Councillor Johal was welcomed by Peter Kinder, Head of Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons, who led the tour of the building. He was joined by Steve Skidmore and Mark Pierpoint, both of whom play leading roles in coordinating the organisation’s charitable activity across the two counties.

Freemasons’ Hall Leicester is widely regarded as one of the city’s hidden gems, featuring impressive banqueting halls, a dedicated museum of Freemasonry, and the ornate lodge rooms for which the building is renowned.

Over many years, the Freemasons have worked closely with the Lord Mayor’s Office on a range of charitable initiatives and community projects, supporting residents who rely most on local assistance. The visit reaffirmed this long‑standing partnership and highlighted the shared commitment to improving the lives of people across Leicester and Rutland.

The Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons' Charity was pleased to donate £2,500 towards his chosen charities this year, which are the Leicester Hospital Charity and Midland Langer Seva Society (MLSS).
