NEW FIRST PRINCIPAL FOR THE CHAPTER OF WELCOME NO. 5664

The Chapter of Welcome No. 5664 held its annual installation meeting on 16th September 2026 at Freemasons' Hall, Leicester, marking the moment Sominder Jandu took the helm for the next twelve months. Richard Howe, the outgoing First Principal, handed over the reins with the efficiency and warmth that have become the hallmark of his year in office, ensuring a smooth and dignified transition for his successor.

The Chapter room was filled well beyond its usual complement, with members and visitors turning out in strong numbers to mark the occasion. Among them was Noel Manby, the Head of Royal Arch Masonry in Leicestershire & Rutland, who attended along with a sizeable contingent of his Provincial team, a clear mark of the esteem in which the Chapter is held across the Province.

The installation ceremony itself was conducted with the care and precision expected of such a significant occasion, the assembled companions bearing witness as Som was formally installed and the supporting officers took up their roles for the year ahead. It was an evening that blended tradition and warmth in equal measure, reflecting the strong bonds that exist within the Chapter.

The celebrations continued afterwards at the Festive Board, where companions and guests came together to mark the occasion in fitting style. Speaking during the evening, Noel Manby reflected warmly on the occasion: "Tonight has been such a truly enjoyable evening. Thank you to the Chapter of Welcome and everyone who made this such a special and enjoyable evening, not just for Som, but also for all of us visiting you this evening."

His words captured the spirit of the night: a Chapter proud of its outgoing First Principal, welcoming to its incoming one, and generous in its hospitality to the many visitors who chose to share in the occasion.

Chapter of Welcome No. 5664 now looks ahead to the year under Sominder's leadership, building on the strong foundations laid during Richard Howe's term and continuing the tradition of fellowship that visitors and members alike remarked upon so warmly.
