A heartfelt donation of £1,000 has been made by local Royal Arch Freemasons to Samuel’s Promise, a community‑driven fund within The Children and Young People’s Cancer Association.
The cheque was presented to Samuel’s parents at the Buttermarket in Mountsorrel, offering both financial support and a moving moment of remembrance for their son.
Samuel, a Charnwood boy, lived in Rothley, played football for Mountsorrel Juniors, attended school in Quorn, and later studied at Loughborough College. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour at just 14 years old in 2018 and, after four years of courageous treatment, sadly died in 2022 aged 18.
The donation was raised by Saint Crispins Chapter, a group of around 30 local Freemasons, and generously supported by the Provincial Grand Chapter of Leicestershire and Rutland.
Presenting the cheque were Mark Williams and Mathew Bramley, joined by Clive Thorpe of Birstall, who reflected on the experience:
“It was very, very humbling to hear Samuel’s story first hand from his parents, and incredibly inspiring to learn of their amazing work to support others as part of Samuel’s legacy.”
The contribution will help Samuel’s Promise continue its vital mission of supporting children, young people, and families facing cancer across the local area.
