Members of St Mary’s Lodge No.7164 have made a generous donation of £500 to the Leicestershire and Rutland branch of REMAP, a charity renowned for its inventive approach to helping people with disabilities live more independently.
REMAP specialises in designing and building custom-made aids and equipment for individuals when no suitable commercial solution exists. Each project is a unique response to a specific need—recent innovations include a child’s swing with automatic movement, a dog treat dispenser mounted on a wheelchair, and sand wheels fitted to a walking frame for beach access.
The charity’s services are provided entirely free of charge by a dedicated network of volunteer engineers and craftsmen, supporting around 3,500 people across the UK each year.
The donation was formally presented by Vince Howard, Past Master of St Mary’s Lodge, to Martin Grant, a volunteer woodworking craftsman who contributes his skills to REMAP’s life-changing work.
This contribution reflects the Lodge’s ongoing commitment to supporting practical, community-focused initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.
