Leicester, 15 November 2025: A unique Travelling Lodge of Freemasons with a shared passion for motorcycles marked a major milestone on Saturday as members gathered at Freemasons’ Hall, Leicester, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Lodge.

Founded in Hampshire in 2000, the lodge holds the distinction of being the first motorcycle-themed lodge in the country. Since its formation, members have travelled the length and breadth of the UK twice every year—traditionally in April and July—bringing their enthusiasm for both Freemasonry and motorcycling to destinations nationwide. Later each year, the lodge returns to its home meeting place, now located in Leicester, where the lodge was transferred to make national attendance easier for its far-flung membership.

For anyone who feels the pull of the open road and the call of Freemasonry—whichever came first—the Lodge of the Chevaliers de Fer offers a rare blend of camaraderie, tradition, and motorbike culture.

To mark the anniversary, the Head of Leicestershire & Rutland Freemasons, Peter Kinder, joined by members of his team, attended the meeting at Freemasons’ Hall, Leicester. They were welcomed into a vibrant celebration as lodge members showcased the spirit of their dual passions. The day concluded with a well-received festive board, with a “fantastic meal” provided by the team at Devonshire Place.

Presiding over the anniversary meeting was The Reverend Paul Paterson, who, supported by fellow lodge members, led an engaging meeting, showcasing the lodge’s work and ethos for the assembled visitors.

After 25 years of riding together—on the road and in the Craft—the Chevaliers de Fer continue to exemplify the brotherhood, adventure, and enjoyment that first inspired their formation. Here’s to the next quarter-century.

Reflecting on the occasion, Peter Kinder said:

“What a fantastic way to enjoy a Saturday morning, with friends, watching them enjoy their motorcycling interests and raising money for great causes.”

As the lodge looks ahead to the next 25 years, its members remain committed to their founding ideals: integrity, respect, friendship, service, and the open road.
