Union of Rugby Lodge Supports Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes

At the recent Installation Meeting of the Union of Rugby Lodge on Friday 8th May, members and guests came together in a remarkable show of generosity to support the vital work of Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes.

Thanks to the exceptional kindness and gracious permission of the newly installed Master, Joseph Maxim, a collection was held during the evening in aid of this life‑saving voluntary service. With the valued support of Daniel Quelch, Colin Brink, and Glen Reader, the Lodge raised an impressive £475 through the goodwill of all in attendance.

The atmosphere throughout the night reflected the very best of Masonic charity. Members not only donated generously but also offered words of encouragement and took a keen interest in the work of the Blood Bikes team. It was especially heartening to see several members express an interest in volunteering themselves.

Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes provide an essential out‑of‑hours courier service, transporting urgent medical items such as blood, samples, and equipment to hospitals and healthcare providers across the region. Their work is carried out entirely by volunteers and funded solely through donations.

For anyone wishing to learn more about the organisation, or to enquire about becoming a rider or driver, further information is available here: https://www.lrbloodbikes.org.uk/faq/volunteer-role-rider-driver

Daniel Quelch, Almoner, Union of Rugby Lodge No.9989 said "A sincere thank you is extended to everyone who contributed to this wonderful effort".
