Celebrating 40 Years of Service and Fellowship at Edward Sherrier Lodge No. 6757

Edward Sherrier Lodge No. 6757 enjoyed a memorable and warmly celebratory meeting on 5 December, marking a truly significant milestone in the Lodge’s history. The occasion honoured W. Bro. Martin Sercombe, who celebrated the 40th anniversary of his initiation into Freemasonry and his long-standing membership of Edward Sherrier Lodge.

The evening was made all the more special by the presence of numerous guests, many of whom have shared enduring friendships with Martin both within Freemasonry and beyond. Their attendance reflected the high esteem in which he is held and the lasting bonds formed over four decades of commitment and service.

During the meeting, Martin was the recipient of two heartfelt and moving speeches. W. Bros. Geoff Phipps and Tony Morris each paid tribute to his Masonic journey, highlighting his dedication, generosity of spirit, and the positive influence he has had on the Lodge and its members over many years.

In a gesture that perfectly captured the spirit of the evening, Martin very generously donated a fine pair of new columns for the Lodge, creating a lasting and tangible reminder of this special anniversary. The gift was received with sincere appreciation and will remain a permanent symbol of his contribution to the Lodge.

Adding further significance to the meeting, the Lodge also witnessed the initiation of a new member, Andy Barrett, into freemasonry and Edward Sherrier Lodge. This combination of celebrating long service while welcoming a new member beautifully reflected the continuity and enduring strength of the Craft.

The evening concluded with an excellent seasonal Festive Board, enjoyed by all present. In keeping with tradition and good humour, Martin himself assisted by carving the meat, adding a personal and memorable touch to a thoroughly convivial occasion.

A good evening was truly had by all, marking not only a remarkable personal milestones for Martin and Andy, but also a night of shared celebration, reflection, and fraternity for Edward Sherrier Lodge No. 6757.
